I occasionally have flashbacks to this movie from when I saw it when I was 7.
Never again.

I saw this in theaters on opening day. Five years later I still never got my money back. A writer's got a lot to say for this.

So obnoxious and weirdly (unintentionally?) anti gay. And what’s worse is none of the aliens were hot. Sad.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Dan Fogler really had fun making this :)
Toward the end there where the mom gives her helmet to her son.. I cry every time.

I was fully prepared to hate this going in. I even remember not liking it that much as a child. But come on, guys... it’s not that bad. Come on.
The ultimate strength of Mars Needs Moms is the worldbuilding. Granted, it is kind of dense for a children’s film, and this leads to several lengthy moments of exposition that serve mostly to orient the audience, but like... dude. The alien learned all of her lingo from the 70’s, and Gribble is basically a kid from the 80’s that never grew up. The martians have a strange societal structure that is explained more-or-less in-depth, and it frankly feels daunting even by modern children’s film standards. Can you believe critics lambasted…
